A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE TOWN MANAGER TO EXECUTE A MUNICIPAL AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE FOR $8,000 FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF STREET IMPROVEMENTS ON MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. BOULEVARD (2006-01-23/R-7a)

 

WHEREAS, the North Carolina Department of Transportation and the Town of Chapel Hill propose to make certain street and highway improvements to consist of the raising of drainage grates located on NC 86 (Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard) in Chapel Hill; and

 

WHEREAS, Department of Transportation and the Town of Chapel Hill propose to enter into an agreement for the construction of the aforementioned highway improvements whereby the Town of Chapel Hill agrees to design the project plans, award construction contract and supervise project construction; and

 

WHEREAS, the agreement provides for the Town of Chapel Hill to be responsible for the costs of design and preparation of plans for the entire project, for the costs of engineering and supervision of construction of the entire project; and

 

WHEREAS, said agreement further provides for the Department of Transportation to reimburse the Town of Chapel Hill for the construction of the project to the maximum extent of $8,000 from STPDA funds in accordance with the terms of the agreement;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill that said project is hereby formally approved and that the Town Manager and Clerk of this Municipality are hereby empowered to sign and execute the Agreement with the Department of Transportation.
