SUBJECT:       Continued Discussion of Recommendations for Development of Future Neighborhood Conservation Districts

DATE:            October 9, 2006

PURPOSE

Tonight, the Council continues discussion of recommendations from the Planning Board regarding the development of future Neighborhood Conservation Districts. 

BACKGROUND

On June 26, 2006, we presented a memorandum to the Mayor and Town Council that: (1) responded to a June 12, 2006 petition from the Planning Board; and (2) recommended a consultant to work with the Planning Board to develop a Neighborhood Conservation District for the Mason Farm/Whitehead Circle neighborhood (please see Attachment 1).  At that meeting, the Council postponed discussion of the Planning Board petition until tonight’s meeting to allow the Council to discuss the recommendations with representatives of the Planning Board. 

DISCUSSION

Planning Board Chair Ruby Sinreich and Planning Board Member Thomas Jensen will attend tonight’s meeting to discuss the Board’s recommendations for development of future Neighborhood Conservation Districts.
