Resolution Authorizing the Disposition of Surplus Fire Truck |

The attached resolution would authorize the sale of a surplus fire truck.
The Fire Department has identified a 1992 Simon-Duplex Aerial Fire Truck as property that is no longer needed and no longer useful to the Town. With the arrival of the new tower truck (Tower 73), coupled with the rising costs of maintaining Tower 71, it is no longer feasible to continue carrying the older more costly fire truck. Therefore, it is in the best interest of the town to dispose of the vehicle.
Subject to Council authorization, an on-line public auction for the sale of a surplus fire truck is scheduled for Friday, April 13, through Monday, April 23 2007, at www.GovDeals.com.
We recommend that the Council adopt the attached resolution declaring the 1992 Simon-Duplex Aerial Fire Truck as surplus, as it is no longer needed and no longer useful to the Town; and authorizing its sale in an online auction.
