A RESOLUTION TO ESTABLISH NEXT STEPS FOR A COKER HILLS NEIGHBORHOOD CONSERVATION DISTRICT (2007-04-11/R-5)

 

WHEREAS, on May 15, 2006, the Chapel Hill Town Council held a Public Hearing to receive citizen comments on proposed guidelines for a Neighborhood Conservation District; and

 

WHEREAS, on June 12, 2006, the Council recessed the rezoning Public Hearing until September 27, 2006, to allow time for residents of the Coker Hills neighborhood to continue discussion about a Neighborhood Conservation District for the neighborhood; and

 

WHEREAS, on September 27, 2006, the Council recessed the rezoning Public Hearing until March 5, 2007, to allow additional time for residents of the Coker Hills neighborhood to continue discussions about a Neighborhood Conservation District for the neighborhood;

 

WHEREAS, on March 5, 2007, the Council recessed the rezoning Public Hearing until April 11, 2007, to allow additional time for residents of the Coker Hills neighborhood to continue discussions about a Neighborhood Conservation District for the neighborhood;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council directs the Town Manager to poll the affected households to determine if there is at least 51% support for a Neighborhood Conservation District as proposed by the Consensus Committee.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that once documentation of support is received, we would return to the Planning Board to develop a recommendation for next steps.
