Recommendation: |
The Planning Board recommends that the Town Council adopts the draft Ordinance, as attached to the May 1, 2007 staff memorandum, and amends the tree protection regulations in the Land Use Management Ordinance. The recommended Ordinance would: |

· Require permits to remove trees in a cumulative area more than 5,000 square feet even if a building permit is not involved; and · Lower the threshold of trees that must be surveyed from 18 inches dbh to 12 inches dbh |

The Board also encourages the Council to implement a public education and awareness campaign once the recommended Ordinances is adopted. |
