A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A NAMING RIGHTS POLICY FOR THE CHAPEL HILL PUBLIC LIBRARY FOUNDATION (2007-09-24/R-9.1)

WHEREAS, the Council is grateful to the Chapel Hill Public Library Foundation for taking on the important role of “Enriching our community by helping our library collections grow”; and

WHEREAS, the Council recognizes the importance of the Foundation’s upcoming campaign to increase the number of named endowment funds that support acquiring books and other materials for the library’s collections; and

WHEREAS, the Foundation has requested guidance on the types of recognition it might offer to donors in its upcoming fundraising campaign;

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council authorizes the Foundation to offer the following:

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council establishes as a matter of policy that requests for naming rights or recognition on physical areas of the library, including rooms, wings, or the whole library, will not be honored.
