Application for the Chapel Hill Public Library Expansion Special Use Permit Modification

Meeting Date:

Recommendation:

That the Council approve a Special Use Permit Modification for the Chapel Hill Public Library Expansion application with enactment of Revised Resolution A (Attachment3) as attached to the Addendum Memorandum to the Staff Report dated, October 30, 2007 with the following changes:

 

Land Use Intensity: Reduce the number of parking spaces from 242 to 228.

 

To not approve parking on Library Drive and revise stipulation #8 to read:

 

No Library Drive On-Street Parking: That no on-street parking spaces be provided along Library Drive .

Vote:

5-1

 

Ayes:  George Cianciolo (Chair), Thomas Jensen (Vice-Chair), Margaret Campion, Michael Collins, and James Stroud

 

Against:  John Ager

Issues Raised:

1. A Board member believed a Town project should endorse parking minimums.

 

2. Several of the Board members believed that the parking area on Library Drive is unnecessary and creates an unsafe traffic situation for vehicles backing into Library Drive.
