A RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION TO DEAN MARVIN MALECHA (2007-11-19/R-7)

WHEREAS, Marvin Malecha agreed in 2005 to serve as a peer reviewer for the Downtown Economic Development Initiative of the Town of Chapel Hill on a pro bono basis;

WHEREAS, the Council sought his expert review to help achieve the goal of a project design that is contemporary yet also reflects the context and setting of Chapel Hill, with a strong community orientation and a pedestrian scale;

WHEREAS, while also serving as Dean of the College of Design at North Carolina State University, and as First President/President Elect of the American Institute of Architects, he generously gave of his time and advice to conduct ten peer review sessions for the Downtown Initiative over the past two years; and

WHEREAS, outreach to communities such as ours exemplifies North Carolina State University’s tradition of being responsive to the people of North Carolina;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill that the Council thanks Marvin Malecha for his work in conducting the peer review process and expresses its appreciation for his insight and guidance to the Town Council and the Ram Development Company.
