Subject: The Innovation Center

Greetings all,

I know you will have an important decision to make soon about whether or not to allow UNC to develop the Innovation Center at the Carolina North site the University wants before the entire Carolina North master plan, or a process for approving a master plan, is fully decided. On behalf of myself and the Government Relations Committee of the Chamber, I urge you to approve UNC's application as it will be before you on Jan. 23.

I believe there will be a number of benefits to the project advancing, but here is just one: The Innovation Center will generate major revenue as incubated businesses pay tax on purchased goods and services in the community. These businesses will need to pay for meals, office supplies and other euqipment, all of which will generate and increase sales tax revenue that comes back to our community.

Thanks for your consideration.
