subject:      Adjustment to Public Hearing Schedule for a Pending Text Amendment to the Land Use Management Ordinance Regarding Demolition in Historic Districts

date:            January 26, 2009

PURPOSE

The purpose of this report is to propose an adjustment to the schedule for a pending text amendment to the Land Use Management Ordinance regarding demolition in Historic Districts that would move the public hearing date from February 16 to April 20, 2009.

BACKGROUND

On December 8, 2008 the Council adopted a schedule for pending Land Use Management Ordinance text amendments.  The schedule set a public hearing date of February 16, 2009 for the purpose of considering an amendment to the Land Use Management Ordinance to regulate the demolition of historic structures in the Town’s Historic Districts.

DISCUSSION

Due to a staff leave of absence and workload reassignments, preparation for the proposed public hearing date of February 16, 2009 for the purpose of considering an amendment to regulate the demolition of historic structures in the Town’s Historic Districts is no longer possible.  To allow time for the development of a staff memorandum and consideration of the proposed amendment by advisory boards, we recommend rescheduling the public hearing to April 20, 2009.

RECOMMENDATION

That the Council adopt the attached resolution which would schedule a public hearing for April 20, 2009 to consider a Land Use Management Ordinance text amendment to regulate the demolition of historic structures in the Town’s Historic Districts.
