Adopt Budget Amendment for Traffic Engineering Projects. (O-2) |

| Background: The University contributed $50,000 for street lighting at Fordham Boulevard and Manning Drive, and the UNC Student Body provided $80,000 for emergency call boxes and lighting upgrades for locations near campus. The funds were received and held in reserved fund balance in the General Fund. The attached amendment would transfer the budget to establish the projects in the Capital Improvements Fund. | |||

| Fiscal Note: The developers and/or others provided the funds for the design and construction of the projects. The Town is responsible for the maintenance and operation cost of the call boxes which includes power cost and monthly telephone cost. The estimated cost to the Town is approximately $50 per month. Town is responsible to pay the monthly operating cost for street lights to Duke Energy. | |||

| Recommendations: That the Council enact a budget ordinance that would adjust the FY 2009-10 CIP budget for several traffic engineering related projects. | |||
