SUMMARY OF TRANSPORTATION BOARD ACTION

Subject:                       Consideration of a Land Use Plan Amendment to Identify Locations of Potential School Sites.

Meeting Date: May 18, 2004

Recommendation:      The Transportation Board recommends that the Council amend the Land Use Plan to identify the potential school site locations submitted by the Chapel Hill Carrboro Board of Education set out in the letter from the Chapel Hill – Carrboro City School System, January 8, 2004. In addition the T-Board suggests that the Board of Education investigate (in the future so not as to delay this amendment) the following locations as potential school sites:  

• Land at intersection of Airport Rd and Estes Drive (north east quadrant),
• Land at Airport Rd, south of Fire Station 4,
• Land at southern end of Shady Lawn Road extension.

Vote:                           5-0

Aye:     George Cianciolo, Loren Hintz, Clint Hicks, Frederic Schroeder and Eleanor Howe.
