SUBJECT: Proposed Rezonings of Portions of the Horace Williams Tract: Request to Continue Public Hearing Until April 25, 2005

Tonight, the Council continues the March 21, 2005 Public Hearings on proposed rezonings of portions of the Horace Williams Tract. We recommend that the Council adopt the attached resolution, continuing the hearing to April 25, 2005.
BACKGROUND
On January 10, 2005, the Town Council adopted a resolution calling public hearings for Monday, March 21, 2005, to consider rezoning portions of the Horace Williams property. Two zoning actions were to be considered:
Maps are attached that showing current zoning designations and the portions of the tract considered for rezoning.
At the conclusion of discussion on March 21, the Town Council recessed the Public Hearing to April 11, 2005. Tonight the Council reconvenes the recessed hearing.
DISCUSSION
At the April 5, 2005 Council meeting, Mayor Foy asked the Council to consider allowing additional time for discussion of these proposals with University officials. The Council agreed that on April 5, the hearings would be re-opened and then continued until April 25, 2005.
RECOMMENDATION
We recommend that the Council adopt the attached resolution, continuing these hearings to April 25, 2005.

A RESOLUTION CONTINUING PUBLIC HEARINGS TO CONSIDER PROPOSED REZONING OF LAND ON THE HORACE WILLIAMS PROPERTY (2005-04-11/R-7)
WHEREAS, on March 21, 2005, the Town Council held Public Hearings to consider proposed rezoning of land on the Horace Williams property; and
WHEREAS, the Council believes that additional time to consider the proposed rezonings would be desirable;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill that the Public Hearings to consider proposed rezoning of land on the Horace Williams property shall be continued to April 25, 2005.
