Morgan Creek (Highway 15-501 to Smith Level Road)

  • Length: About 1 mile
  • Trail Surface: Paved
  • Construction Issues: Multiple bridges
  • Other Factors: 1996 Open Space bond funds available for remaining land needs; anticipate obtaining remaining land needed by end of 2003

Town has land for 50 percent of trail; remaining land expected to be in hand by end of 2003

Upper Bolin Creek (Airport Road to Carrboro)

  • Length: About 1 mile
  • Trail Surface: Paved
  • Construction Issues: Retaining walls, bridges
  • Other Factors: Master plan needed for segment alignment, which will determine amount of land needed and where.

 

Town would need to acquire land or easements in several areas

Bolin Creek (Community Center Park to Fordham Blvd)

  • Length: About .5 mile
  • Trail Surface: Paved
  • Construction Issues: Fairly easy terrain
  • Other Factors: Town would need to negotiate to buy easement through two condominium developments

Most of the land is not in Town’s control

  • Length: About 0.5 mile
  • Trail Surface: Paved
  • Construction Issues: Relatively simple terrain, some drainage issues
  • Other Factors: Would need University’s cooperation where greenway crosses University-owned land

  • Trail Surface: Pavement and boardwalk
  • Construction Issues: Some simple terrain, but wet; 1 or two bridges required
