Can I View My Library Record by Computer?

Yes! You may do this from any public terminal in the library. You may also dial in to the system from your home or office computer if attached to a modem. (Please see Dialing Into the Catalog for details.) This new service will allow you to: identify library materials you currently have checked out or requested; review overdue materials and any outstanding fines or fees attached to your record.

How Do I Use This New Service?

The first time you access this service, you must enter a personal identification Number (PIN) on the library system. Do this by accessing the screen option View your own record.

  • Enter your name and the barcode number (without spaces) located on the back or your library card.
  • The system will then ask you to enter a PIN of your choice. PINS may be any combination of numbers or letters up to thirty characters in total.
  • Once entered, you will be asked to re-enter your PIN for verification.

Thereafter you will only have to enter your PIN once to retrieve your record.

Remember your PIN. This is your confidential password. Once entered into the system library staff cannot identify your PIN for you. Please choose a PIN you will remember, such as your mother's maiden name.

The section entitled Dialing Into The Catalog provides detailed instructions for connecting.

How Can I Renew My Own Books?

Some library materials may be renewed electronically. Once you have retrieved your library record, you will have the option to extend the borrowing time for certain library materials if these materials are not already overdue.

Not all books or other materials are renewable. Pay close attention to the "due date" listed beside each item as you attempt to renew it. If the item is not renewable, the due date will not change and a message will appear next to the old due date.

Some reasons an item may not be renewed include;

  1. It is overdue
  2. It is on hold for another patron
  3. It has been renewed twice before
  4. It is non-renewable (most tapes, CD's, holiday items, etc.)
