Earth Action Day, A Celebration on the Plaza will bring Earth Day to a Chapel Hill downtown shopping and entertainment destination. A free event for the whole family, Earth Day on the Plaza will provide a fun-filled afternoon of learning about our relationship with the environment through demonstrations, performances, and activities by and for all ages.

The Franklin 5000 starts at 7:30 AM on Stadium Drive on UNC Campus and finishes in Downtown Chapel Hill.


Our mission is to engage our local community to take actions essential to sustaining a sound natural environment. We will increase awareness and involvement in discovering more ways to live in harmony with the environment.

Our vision is to produce an Earth Day Festival that educates, inspires and motivates citizens of our community to take actions contributing to a greener and more sustainable place to live.
