50 plus exhibitors and demonstrators have applied to exhibit at Earth Action Day, a Celebration on the Plaza. The Parks and Recreation Department would like to share with you exhibitors and demos to be featured.

The Town of Chapel Hill Storm Water Management division will be partnering local Rain Barrel providers to host a rain barrel demonstration as well as selling barrels to the public. Orange County’s Solid Waste Management will be participate in Earth Action Day, providing composting demonstrations as well as supporting our zero waste initiative. The Orange Water and Sewer Authority, a public, non-profit organization that serves the Chapel Hill-Carrboro area, will demonstrate the use of a low-flow shower heads.

These many exciting exhibitors and demonstrators are just a taste of what will be showcased at Earth Action Day “Celebration of the Plaza.” Be sure to stop by and see other earth-friendly ways you can improve your green living.

Cycle 9 Demonstrating bicycles to tryout-electric-assist bikes and cargo bikes. Information on bicycle commuting and safety handouts and verbal.

Envrn Resource Progr Participants will play a game, "Carbon Reduction Solutions Wheel", answer questions about saving energy and small prizes will be given.

Green Home Builders Providing information on the third annual green home tour. We will also have sample building materials.
Green Teen Clubs Posterboard and information sheets. Teens on sight to answer questions about the club and how to go about setting up a club.
Historic District Co To highlight the overlapping goals of historic preservation and substainability. Hand-outs and articles will be provided.

Peoples Channel Exercise free speech through media production, education and cable television programming
Piedmont Biofuels Information about alternative fuels and fuel conservation. Books on renewable energy. May have some ingredients used to make bioiesel on display.
Piedmont Wildlife Hands on activities for children about wildlife. Possible live turtle and lizard. Handouts about handling injuerd animals. Info on wildlife hospital, volunteersing, and education programs.
Pledge Cards Sign a Pledge Card and receive a FREE CFL lightbulb
Rain Water Solutions Giving info out on benefits of collecting rain water. One person will "man" the table with info and sell rain barrels and one person will be located near the truck for convient pick up.
Recyclery Provide inoformation on recyclery and BUB program. Present some bikes for show.
Scooters Incorporate Scooters and displays.
Sierra Club Group Info on "Cool Cities" project, info. on campaign to protect Jordan Lakep; Air pollution board game.
Smith Middle School Students display boards about fuel cell cars.
Southern Energy Mgmn Workshop presentation on solar hot water & PV
Stormwater Mgmt Enviroscape watershed model (interactive) , exhibits, and handouts.
Sustainability Offic Literature; energy saving light demonstration; segway rides.
The Accidental Baker Baked goods for sale
The Forest Foundation Exhibit handmade fairtrade crafts for sale. Hand out flyers, brochures about our projects and fair trade issues. Bumper stickers for sale.
The Joshua Tree Natural material, handcrafted jewelry available for purchase and a game for children.
The Well Children’s crafts using a variety of recycled materials. (possibily) crochet plastic bag instruction & patterns and distribution of informationabout our organization.

Triangle Rails Trail We have our own tent. We have a variety of handouts, including maps of the American Tobacco Trail. Large map of trail to demonstrate.
TWIG Eco-friendly store “green store”. We will have samples and will demostrate as to how these products make a positive ecological contribution to our planet.
UNC Dept. Env. Hlth Stormwater mgmt. at UNC. Demonstrate the function of porpous pavement that we use in several of our parking lots on campus.
Whole Foods Market Natural and Organic Grocery Store. Free water, bananas, free reusable bags. Kidss activity decorating of canvas bags w/vegetable cutouts and paint.
Winmore Information on green-built neighborhood and sunglasses to give away
