The petition requesting the creation of a Northside Neighborhood Conservation District Committee which was submitted to and adopted by the Town Council on 3/24/03 was presented. The petition was submitted by Delores Bailey on behalf of the Sykes St. Steering Committee and the Northside Neighborhood Association. This petition states that stakeholders from neighborhood and professional (among other) organizations and a representative from UNC should be represented on the Committee. The SSSC discussed ways in which to create a Northside Neighborhood Conservation District Committee. It was determined that a list of representatives of the various groups be drawn up and that individuals should be contacted to determine their interest in serving on this committee. A preliminary list was composed.
SSSC discussed ideas for future community events. Some suggestions were an August “Night Out”, further involvement at the Hargraves Opening, and a celebration focusing on the installation of an art piece at the Hargraves Center potentially joint-sponsored by the SSSC and Northside Neighborhood Watch.
The next meeting of the SSSC will be Thursday April 10th, 2003 at 6:30pm, at Hargraves Center.
