MINUTES OF A CLOSED SESSION

OF THE CHAPEL HILL TOWN COUNCIL

MONDAY, JANUARY 14, 2002

 

 

Mayor Kevin Foy called the Closed Session to order at 10:32 p.m.

 

Council members present were Flicka Bateman, Pat Evans,       Ed Harrison, Mark Kleinschmidt, Bill Strom, Dorothy Verkerk, Jim Ward, and Edith Wiggins.

 

Staff members present were Town Manager Cal Horton, Assistant Town Managers Sonna Loewenthal and Florentine Miller, Town Attorney Ralph Karpinos, and Town Clerk Joyce Smith.

 

Mr. Horton stated that the staff was recommending that the Council authorize the Manager to use 1996 Open Space Bond funds to purchase the property at 105 Dickerson Court along Bolin Creek.  He noted that this property is the last of the four tracts between Dickerson Court and Bolin Creek, adding that all four have flooded repeatedly over the years.  The first three tracts were purchased through the Flood Mitigation Assistance agreement.

 

The Council agreed by consensus to purchase the property.

 

Mr. Horton stated that a resolution would be prepared and placed on the Council’s January 28 agenda for adoption, authorizing the purchase of this property.

 

The Closed Session was adjourned at 10:34 p.m.
