A RESOLUTION REDUCING THE BOUNDARIES OF THE DOWNTOWN SERVICE DISTRICT (2006-06-26/R-1b)

 

WHEREAS, the Council has determined that the University of North Carolina property that was previously zoned TC-1, but now zoned OI-4, located on the south side of East Franklin Street, just west of the University Methodist Church, facing the University and behind the properties facing Franklin Street as shown in the map in attachments 2 and 3 no longer needs to be included within the Downtown Service District; and

 

WHEREAS, the Town Council on April 24, 2006 called a hearing for May 22, 2006 to receive comment on proposed boundary changes for the Downtown Service District; and

 

WHEREAS, notice of a public hearing was published on May 14, 2006; and

 

WHEREAS, a public hearing was held on May 22 and continued on June 26th on the proposed boundary changes;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill that the Council hereby reduces the boundaries of the Downtown Service District to exclude the property owned by the University of North Carolina, previously zoned TC-1, but now zoned OI-4, located on the south side of East Franklin Street, just west of the University Methodist Church, facing the University behind the properties facing Franklin Street as shown as a proposed reduction to the Downtown Service District in the attached Map 1 - Revised Map Showing Proposed Changes to the Downtown Service District.
