A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING BIDS AND AWARDING THE CONTRACT FOR THE COMMUNITY CENTER SYSTEM REPLACEMENT AND REPAIRS PROJECT (2006-09-27/R-12a)
WHEREAS, the Town of Chapel Hill solicited formal bids on July 10, 2006 by advertisement on the Town website and in the July 13, 2006 edition of Greater Diversity in accordance with G.S. 143-128 for the Community Center System Replacement and Repairs Project ; and
WHEREAS, the following bids were received and opened on August 17, 2006; and

WHEREAS, Lomax Construction, Inc. has offered a negotiated bid of $1,960,500 based on cost reductions in the amount of $206,800; and
WHEREAS, funding in the amount of $1,661,900 is available in the fiscal year 2006-07 Capital Improvements Budget;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill that the Town Manager is directed to submit a recommended budget amendment in the amount of $350,000 for additional funding for the Community Center System Replacement and Repairs Project.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill that the Town authorizes the Town Manager to execute a contract with the lowest responsive bidder, Lomax Construction Inc., in the amount of $1,960,500 for the base bid plus alternates 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 7
