SUBJECT:      Resolution to Encourage the General Assembly to Authorize a Conservation Bond

Preserving natural space is an important and necessary goal of the Council.  Thousands of acres of land in North Carolina currently face the prospect of being sold by the United States government. I petition the Council to consider the attached resolution, urging the North Carolina General Assembly to enact legislation authorizing a $1 billion bond to conserve land.
