A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A COMMITTEE TO CONSIDER OPTIONS FOR A TOWN HALLOWEEN EVENT ON OCTOBER 31, 2006 (2006-05-22/R-8)

 

WHEREAS, the Council has determined that a review of the social and fiscal impact of the downtown Halloween event is appropriate; and

 

WHEREAS, the Council has determined that the Halloween event has significant impact on many different facets of the community; and

 

WHEREAS, the Council desires the input of citizens regarding options for future Halloween events;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill that the Council establishes a committee to consider whether the Town should continue efforts to manage the Halloween event or make an effort to eliminate it.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill that the Council hereby amends the 2005-2006 meeting calendar to schedule a Public Forum on Wednesday, September 6, 2006, at 7 pm in the Town Hall.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill that the citizen committee report its findings and proposals to the Council at a public forum on September 6, 2006; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill that the Manager is authorized to initiate the process necessary to solicit applicants for appointment.
