SUBJECT:      Budget Amendment for Town Manager Search Expenses

DATE:            May 22, 2006

PURPOSE

The purpose of this budget amendment is to provide funds for expenses relating to the search for a new Town Manager. 

BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION

The Manager Search Committee has begun the recruiting process for a new Town Manager and has hired consultants to assist in the process.  The Search Committee and the Council’s consultants estimate that an additional $10,000 will be required in fiscal year 2005-06 for expenses, including advertising and on-site visits by finalist candidates in June.  Council contingency funds could be used to cover these additional costs.

RECOMMENDATION

That the Council adopt the attached budget amendment to use Council contingency funds for the estimated $10,000 for recruitment costs for a new Town Manager.
