A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A STATE ENERGY OFFICE GRANT (2006-04-10/R-5)

WHEREAS, the State Department of Administration and the State Energy Office awarded the Town of Chapel Hill a $30,000 Sustainable Community Development project grant for the installation of a photovoltaic system at Fire Station #1; and

WHEREAS, the terms of the contract for the grant require local matching funds in an amount not to exceed $8,000; and

WHEREAS, the proposed installation of a 2.4 to 2.5 kilowatt photovoltaic system at Fire Station #1 is consistent with the Town Council’s goals for sustainable development;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill that the Council authorizes the Town Manager to accept the State Energy Office grant in the amount of $30,000 for the installation of a photovoltaic system at Fire Station #1.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council authorizes the Manager to use $8,000 from the Public Safety Bond Fund to satisfy the local matching funds requirement of the Sustainable Community Development grant.
