SUBJECT:      Response to Citizen Petition Regarding 310 McMasters Street

PURPOSE

 

The purpose of this report is to present information regarding the enforcement of Town Ordinances at 310 McMasters Street in response the May 22, 2006 petition to the Council by neighboring property owner, Iris Wadsworth.

 

BACKGROUND

 

The Town of Chapel Hill Code of Ordinances Chapter Nine, Minimum Housing Code, Section 9-114 regulates the accumulation of trash and debris on residential property. Chapter Eleven, Sections 11-22 through 11-25, of the Code of Ordinances regulates the accumulation of debris and overgrown weeds. 

 

DISCUSSION

 

The property at 310 McMasters Street was inspected and found in violation of the Town Code of Ordinances in response to a citizen complaint of accumulated debris and overgrown weeds.  A written notice of the violations was issued to the property owner and copied to the tenants on May 31, 2006. 

 

CONCLUSION

 

The inspection on June 1, 2006 confirmed that the property had been cleared of trash and debris, and mowed.
