COMMUNITY DESIGN COMMISSION
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 26, 2006, 7:00 P.M.
Chairperson Jonathan Whitney called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Commission members present were Mark Broadwell, George Cianciolo, Dale Coker, Chris Culbreth, Eleanor Howe, Laura King Moore, Amy Ryan, Jonathan Whitney, Chair, and Robin Whitsell. Absent: Gretchen MacNair, Charlotte Newby, Scott Nilsen, and Glenn Parks.
Staff members present were Kay Pearlstein and Kay Tapp.
THE CEDARS OF CHAPEL HILL @ MEADOWMONT (File No. 479.1.1B)
The Town has received a request for a Concept Plan Review which proposes to increase the number of dwelling units at The Cedars from 300 to 307 dwelling units. No site changes are proposed. No increase in overall floor area is proposed. The Cedars is located on the northeast side of West Barbee Chapel Road and the east side of Meadowmont Lane with frontage on both streets (see area map on back). The 50.24-acre site is located in the Residential-5-Conditional (R-5-C) zoning district. The site is identified as Durham County, Tax Map 491, Block 1, Lot 1.

COMMUNITY DESIGN COMMISSION QUESTION
Commissioner Amy Ryan asked if the number of parking spaces would increase with the addition of the 7 new dwelling units. The applicant responded that no increase to the number of parking spaces was proposed.
All Commissioners supported the applicant’s request for an additional 7 dwelling units.
