A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING DEDICATION TO OWASA OF A SEWER EASEMENT ON LAND OWNED BY THE TOWN OF CHAPEL HILL, WHICH IS LOCATED WITHIN THE TOWN’S PRITCHARD PARK (2006-06-26/R-7)

WHEREAS, OWASA currently has a sewer easement within Prichard Park; and

WHEREAS, OWASA desires to abandon the existing pump station at Clayton Road; and

WHEREAS, OWASA has worked with Town staff to identify a revised sewer alignment that would have less of an impact on Pritchard Park; and

WHEREAS, the revised sewer easement would also abandon sections of the current easement that would not be needed by OWASA; and

WHEREAS, the Council has raised concerns related to OWASA’s impact to Pritchard Park if a sewer line is installed; and

WHEREAS, OWASA has agreed to address those concerns to the greatest extent it can;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill that the Town Manager is authorized to transfer to OWASA a sewer easement through Pritchard Park from the Clayton Road pump station to Estes Drive.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Council that the Town Manager is authorized to work closely with OWASA to minimize environmental damage to Pritchard Park to the greatest reasonable extent possible.
