A RESOLUTION AWARDING A CONTRACT FOR ASPHALTIC CONCRETE AND TACK COAT (2006-06-26/R-13)

WHEREAS, the Town of Chapel Hill has solicited formal bids by legal notice on the Town of Chapel Hill’s website on April5, 2006, in accordance with G.S. 143-129 for asphaltic concrete and tack coat for street patching; and

WHEREAS, the following responsive bids have been received and opened on May 3, 2006, at 3:00 p.m.

WHEREAS, the additional cost to the Town caused by the differences in distance between the plants of the vendor relative to that of the S.T. Wooten plant results in the lowest total cost for S.T. Wooten; and

WHEREAS, the year around availability of hot-mix asphalt is important to the Town's ability to maintain its system;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill that the Town Manager is authorized to execute a contract with S.T. Wooten, provided that the contracted cost of asphalt and tack coat shall remain within the budget.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this contract may be extended by one year if mutually agreeable to the Town and S.T. Wooten at the same unit prices.
