A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE CHAPEL HILL-CARRBORO-UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA LONG RANGE TRANSIT PLAN REQUEST FOR QUALIFICATIONS AND ESTABLISHING A TRANSIT STUDY COMMITTEE TO SELECT A CONSULTANT AND OVERSEE THE PREPARATION OF THE PLAN (2006-06-26/R-21)

 

WHEREAS, the Town of Chapel Hill believes the preparation of a Long Range Transit Plan is important to guide the future development of the Chapel Hill Transit system; and

 

WHEREAS, the Long Range Transit Plan should evaluate the future mobility needs within major transportation corridors; and

 

WHEREAS, the participation of the Town of Carrboro and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the preparation of the Long Range Transit Plan is important; and

 

WHEREAS, representatives from Chapel Hill, Carrboro and the University have jointly developed a scope of work and request for qualifications to prepare the Long Range Transit Plan; and

 

WHEREAS, the proposed scope of work and request for qualifications includes the establishment of a Transit Study Committee to select a consultant and oversee preparation of the Plan;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill that the Town approves the attached Chapel Hill-Carrboro-University of North Carolina Long Range Transit Plan Request for Qualifications.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council appoints ____________ and ___________ to serve as representatives of the Town to the Transit Study Committee.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council requests that the Town of Carrboro appoint two representatives and the University appoint four representatives to serve on the Transit Study Committee.
