A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE TOWN MANAGER TO REMOVE THE APPLE CHILL STREET FAIR FROM THE TOWN’S CALENDAR OF EVENTS (2006-04-24/R-13)

WHEREAS, the Town of Chapel Hill has sponsored Apple Chill Street Fairs for 35 years; and

WHEREAS, the Fair and associated unsponsored events have over the past several years attracted crowds of over 30,000; and 

WHEREAS, the Apple Chill Street Fair and associated unsponsored events now challenge the abilities of the Town staff and outside resources to effectively manage the event and maintain public safety; and

WHEREAS, as a result of the concern for the safety of the citizens, visitors and staff participating in and working at the Fair;  

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill that the Council authorizes the Town Manager to remove the Apple Chill Street Fair from the Town’s calendar of events.
