A RESOLUTION AMENDING THE COUNCIL POLICY ON APPROVING CHANGES IN CONSTRUCTION CONTRACTS AND AUTHORIZING THE TOWN MANAGER TO EXECUTE CHANGE ORDERS FOR THE TOWN OPERATIONS CENTER PROJECT (2006-04-24/R-4a)

WHEREAS, the Town of Chapel Hill has established a policy for approving changes in construction contracts; and

WHEREAS, the Town Council approved a budget and awarded contracts for construction of the Town Operation center, including contingency funds for those contracts; and

WHEREAS, additional changes in that work may be required to complete the project;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill that the Town amends its policy regarding changes in construction contracts to authorize the Town Manager to execute changes which do not cumulatively exceed more than 10 percent of the original contract amount or $300,000, which ever is less; and provided that there is an appropriation sufficient for the contract amendment, and further authorizes the Town Manager to execute changes up to the limit of contingency funds available in the budget approved by the Council for the Town Operations Center project.
