A RESOLUTION SEEKING IMPEACHMENT OF PRESIDENT BUSH (2006-05-08/R-0.1)

WHEREAS, the Elders for Peace is a group of seniors in Chapel Hill, North Carolina who work for peace and denounce institutional violence; and

WHEREAS, President George W. Bush has acted contrary to law, and violated his oath to uphold the constitution of the United States; and

WHEREAS, President Bush is altering the balance of power in our democracy by denying Congress its proper role in governance, and causing the United States to act in contravention of international law;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill that the Council supports the call for the impeachment of President Bush on behalf of the Elders for Peace.
