SUBJECT:      Acceptance of Fiscal Year 2006-2007 Alcoholic Beverage Control Funds

The attached resolution would authorize the acceptance of FY 2006-2007 Orange County Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) Board funds in the amount of $8,833 to enhance the Police Department’s alcohol education and enforcement efforts.  

 

BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION

 

In June 2006, the Orange County ABC Board notified the Police Department that the department’s request for funds had been approved in the amount of $8,833. 

 

Officers would use the funds to attend training in identifying and preventing alcohol-related crimes.  The funds would also be used to purchase dedicated computer equipment to store alcohol offense case data and to provide audio/visual aids for community training forums and in-service departmental training.  Recording and surveillance equipment would also be purchased for use while conducting alcohol compliance and enforcement operations.

 

RECOMMENDATION

 

We recommend that the Council adopt the attached resolution authorizing the acceptance of the Orange County Alcoholic Beverage Control Board funds and enact the attached budget amendment
