A RESOLUTION AWARDING A CONTRACT FOR THE PURCHASE AND DELIVERY OF TRANSIT BUSES (2006-10-09/R-4)

WHEREAS, the Town of Chapel Hill has solicited formal bids by legal notice on July 31, 2006 in accordance with G.S. 143-129 for the purchase and delivery of buses; and

WHEREAS, in accordance with the specifications and consideration of life cycle costs; and

WHEREAS, the following bid was received and opened on September 21, 2006:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill that a contract for the purchase of 16 buses in an amount of $5,828,168 be awarded to the Gillig Corporation.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council authorize the award of additional buses over a five-year period from this same contract pending securement of local matching funds to cover the needed 10 percent match.
