Summary of Active Living by Design Advisory Committee Action

Subject:	Northside Report Recommendations
Meeting Date:	August 11, 2005
Background:	The Council requested that the Go! Chapel Hill Advisory Committee comment on the Northside Report.
Recommendation:	The Go! Chapel Hill Advisory Committee voted unanimously to recommend that a further evaluation of the area with town staff reviewing details and a feasibility analysis done.  The group asked that the following be incorporated into the study: lighting and safety issues should be addressed as well as new recreational opportunities created for the area basic maintenance issues should be addressed ie. broken curbs, sidewalks and pavement as well as landscaping issues such as weeding cross walks and corridors should be connected in some way striping and sidewalks need to be installed at Sykes and Gomains Streets – the southeast corner sidewalks should be installed at Nunn Street between Whitaker and Sunset there should be no sidewalk installed on McDade
