SUBJECT: Ordinance Amending the Town’s Position Classification and Pay Plan effective October 23, 2006

PURPOSE
Enactment of the attached Ordinance would amend the Town’s Position Classification and Pay Plan effective October 23, 2006.
DISCUSSION
In June 2006, the Council approved the Transportation Department’s recommendation that the position of Transit Marketing/Public Outreach Coordinator be reduced to half time effective October 31, 2006, due to lack of available funding in the Transportation Department.
The Planning Department has recommended that the position of Public Outreach Coordinator currently located in the Transportation Department be transferred to the Planning Department and retained as a fulltime position. They have proposed duties and responsibilities and available funding sources to support this position in the current budget for the remainder of this budget year.
The attached amendment would reflect this position transfer from Transportation to Planning in the Town Position Classification and Pay Plan. The attached Ordinance would also make clerical corrections of position locations in the Engineering Department to more accurately reflect the program assignments of positions to the various divisions in Engineering, and to reduce the number of Crisis Counselor positions shown in the Police Department budget, to reflect the end of grant funding for one position.
RECOMMENDATION
That the Council enact the attached amendment to the Ordinance.
