RESOLUTION B

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE TOWN MANAGER TO ENTER INTO DISCUSSIONS WITH LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS REGARDING THE FEASIBILITY OF A CHAPEL HILL WIRELESS NETWORK (2006-11-06/R-10b)

WHEREAS, the Town is engaging in a process to consider the development of a wireless network for the Town of Chapel Hill; and

WHEREAS, the Town Council and Town staff need to investigate community interest for a wireless network; and

WHEREAS, the community interests would best be served by these discussions;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill that the Town Manager is authorized to enter into discussions with The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Vice Chancellors for the School of Government and for Information Technology and staffs, and the Information Technology and Research staff of the North Carolina League of Municipalities for the purpose of investigating the feasibility of a Town-wide wireless system.
