A RESOLUTION CALLING A PUBLIC FORUM AND REFERRING THE DRAFT 2035 SOCIO-ECONOMIC FORECASTS TO ADVISORY BOARDS FOR COMMENT (2006-11-06/R-7)

WHEREAS, the Durham-Chapel Hill-Carrboro Metropolitan Planning Organization has begun the federally mandated process of updating the 2030 Long Range Transportation Plan to the new horizon year of 2035; and

WHEREAS, the Town of Chapel Hill, as a member of the Metropolitan Planning Organization, is required to prepare socio-economic projections for the year 2035; and

WHEREAS, Town staff has prepared preliminary 2035 projections and submitted them to the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill on November 6, 2006;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill that the Council hereby schedules a public forum for November 20, 2006 to receive public comment on the Draft 2035 Socio-Economic Projections.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill refers the Draft 2035 Socio-Economic Forecasts to the Manager, Town Attorney, Planning Board and the Transportation Board for comment and asks the Manager and Town Attorney to provide a follow-up report to the Council at its December 4, 2006 meeting.
