WHEREAS, the City of Durham, Orange County, Durham County, the Erwin Area Neighborhood Group, and other agencies have agreed to purchase a 42.83-acre tract of land straddling the Orange-Durham County line; and
WHEREAS, the Council believes that the property would best serve the needs of the community as open space or a public park; and
WHEREAS, the staffs of the City of Durham, Orange County, Durham County, and the Town of Chapel Hill have negotiated an agreement that includes a process to determine uses of the property; and
WHEREAS, the established process includes formation of a Hollow Rock/Erwin Road Property Park Planning Advisory Committee;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill that the Council authorizes the Greenways and Parks & Recreation Commissions to each appoint one Hollow Rock/Erwin Road Property Park Planning Advisory Committee member.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council authorizes that the members of the Committee appointed by the Commissions may be either one of its own members or a Town resident interested in either parks and/or greenway issues.
