SUBJECT:	Update on Wireless Initiative

On November 13, staff met with Shannon Schelin of the School of Government, John Streck of UNC Information Technology and Lee Mandell of the North Carolina League of Municipalities to discuss the wireless study.  A summary of that meeting prepared by Shannon Schelin is attached.

Key elements of our initial meeting:

• The external participants have agreed to work as a team with the Town staff on this initiative.
• The team will conduct preliminary work on development of a connectivity plan to examine the drivers of the initiative and the solution alternatives to inform and advise the Council on next steps.
