A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE INSTALLATION OF PEDESTRIAN IMPROVEMENTS AT THE INTERSECTION OF SAGE ROAD AND OLD STERLING DRIVE (2006-12-04/R-9)

WHEREAS, the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill is concerned about vehicular and non-vehicular safety and mobility on Town streets; and

WHEREAS, the Council received requests from citizens for pedestrian and other safety improvements in the Sage Road and Old Sterling Drive area; and

WHEREAS, the Council received a report from Town staff recommending several improvements;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill that the Council authorizes the Manager to proceed with the installation of the following pedestrian safety improvements:

• Pedestrian crosswalk and refuge island on Sage Road at Old Sterling Drive
• Pedestrian crosswalk on Old Sterling Drive at Sage Road

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council authorizes the expenditure of up to $25,000 from 2003 Street and Sidewalk Improvement Bonds for construction/installation of the above noted improvements.
