At its September 11, 2006 meeting, the Town Council received a petition from a resident of Amesbury Drive requesting that the Town establish “No Parking Except by Residential Permit” from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday, on Amesbury Drive. At its October 23, 2006 meeting, the Council received a staff report (Attachment 1) recommending the requested change in the on-street parking regulations.
A number of Amesbury Drive residents expressed opposition to the proposed changes in on-street parking regulations requested by the petitioner. The Town Council subsequently referred the report back to Town staff with instructions to work with neighborhood residents to reach consensus on the matter.
Town staff met with Amesbury Drive residents on Thursday, November 16, 2006. After discussing the issues, all residents (including the original petitioner) agreed that the previously requested changes to the current on-street parking regulations on Amesbury Drive were unnecessary. The petitioner stated that he is withdrawing his petition and a copy of e-mail from the petitioner is provided in Attachment 2.
No further action is required by the Town Council at this time.
