A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE TOWN MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT FOR THE COMPLETION OF THE LONG RANGE TRANSIT PLAN AND TO REQUEST PAYMENT FROM THE TOWN OF CARRBORO AND UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA (2007-01-08/R-10)
WHEREAS, the Town of Chapel Hill believes the preparation of a Long Range Transit Plan is important to guide the future development of the Chapel Hill Transit system; and
WHEREAS, the Long Range Transit Plan should evaluate the future mobility needs within major transportation corridors; and
WHEREAS, the participation of the Town of Carrboro and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the preparation of the Long Range Transit Plan is important; and
WHEREAS, the Town has solicited proposals to complete the Long Range Transit Plan; and
WHEREAS, the Transit Study Committee has evaluated the proposals to complete the Long Range Transit Plan and has selected TranSystems, Inc.; and
WHEREAS, TranSystems has prepared a scope of work to complete the Long Range Transit Plan, costing $522,000; and
WHEREAS, the Transit Study Committee has developed the following cost allocation proposal to fully fund the completion of the Long Range Transit Plan;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill that the Town Manager is authorized to enter in to a contract with TranSystems to complete Long Range Transit Study for the cost of $522,000.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Town Manager is authorized to execute a memorandum of agreement with the Town of Carrboro and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for the completion of the Long Range Transit Plan.
