A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A NEW PHASING PLAN FOR THE SOUTHERN COMMUNITY PARK PROJECT AND AUTHORIZING THE MANAGER TO RE-BID THE PROJECT (2007-01-08/R-11)

WHEREAS, all bids for the Southern Community Park opened in August 2006 exceeded budget; and

WHEREAS, the Council rejected all bids in December 2006;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill that the Council establishes a revised phasing plan for the park that includes the following items in the first phase of development:

• All required utilities
• Art
• Restrooms
• 1 complete athletic field, grade for second and third fields
• Dog park in temporary location north of Dogwood Acres Drive (would be placed in area intended for the northern parking lot and would not include water line)
• Meadow play area in temporary location north of Dogwood Acres Drive (would be placed in area intended for the northern parking lot)
• Trails
• 1 picnic shelter
• 1 basketball court
• Grade area for inline hockey court
• Play area
• Disk golf course

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Council that the Manager is authorized to expand the Council’s revised phasing plan to include the following items if budget allows:

• Additional art
• Second athletic field
• Installation of in-line hockey court
• Second picnic shelter
• Second basketball court

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Council that the Manager is authorized to re-bid the project based on the Council’s revised phasing plan.
