PURPOSE STATEMENT

The purpose of the 2007 Annual Town Council Planning Retreat is to prioritize 2007 objectives and to assure that Council and Staff are enrolled and aligned in how best to achieve them.  Additionally, the retreat itself will be a demonstration of the developing organizational culture by encouraging and valuing interactive, authentic and focused dialogue among the elected officials and the expert implementers.

An overarching purpose will be to eliminate two phrases from Town lexicon:

“The Council doesn’t understand,” and “The staff seems to have their own agenda.”  These will be eliminated, over time, not due to fear of repercussions, but because they simply will no longer be needed.

Free Parking will be available in the Chapel Hill Herald parking lot, which can be accessed from either Kenan or Mallette Streets.

Background Reading in Preparation for the Council Retreat (previously distributed).
