A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE 2006-2007 SIDEWALK AND BICYCLE
FACILITIES CONSTRUCTION PLAN (2007-01-22/R-13)
WHEREAS, the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill has
available approximately $720,000 in sidewalks and streets bond sale funds for
sidewalk construction projects in the 2006-2007 fiscal year; and
WHEREAS, the Council approved a
list of five projects for construction on February 13, 2006 of which four projects
are either completed, under construction or scheduled for construction; and
WHEREAS, the Council may pursue
other sources of funding for sidewalk projects, including Community Development
Program funds and Direct Allocation funds from the Metropolitan Planning
Organization; and
WHEREAS, the Council has reviewed
projects for possible use of these funds;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by
the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill that the sidewalks and streets bond sale
funds be used to construct the following sidewalk projects:
- North Street, north side, Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to Henderson Street
- Hillsborough Street, south side, Bolinwood Dr. to Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard
- Gomains Avenue, south side, from Craig Street to Bynum Street
- Sykes Street, east side, from Gomains Avenue to Whitaker Street
- Mitchell Lane, west side, from Lindsay Street to McDade/Roberson Street
- Mitchell Lane, west side, from McDade/Roberson Street to Caldwell Street
- McMasters Street, south side, from Church Street to Edwards Street
- Caldwell Street, south side, from Church Street to N. Columbia Street
- N. Graham Street, east side, W.Rosemary Street to Whitaker Street
- Tinkerbell Road, west side, Ephesus Church Road to Fountain Ridge Road
- Pritchard Avenue Ext. & Longview Street, from Umstead Drive to N. Columbia Street
- East Lakeview Drive, from Old Durham Chapel Hill Road to US 15-501
- Plant Road, from E. Franklin Street to Community Center
- Sedgefield Drive, from Weaver Dairy Road to Honeysuckle Road
- Honeysuckle Road, from Sedgefield Drive to North Lakeshore Drive
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the
Council that the Town Manager is directed to apply for Metropolitan Planning
Organization Surface Transportation Direct Allocation funds or other State
funding when available and allocate the appropriate local match from sidewalks
and streets bond sale funds for street improvements on any State-maintained
streets including but not limited to the following projects:
- Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, Homestead Road to Estes Drive
- Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, west side, from Weaver Dairy Road to Perkins Drive
- Fordham Boulevard, west side, Elliott Road to Ephesus Church Road
- Ephesus Church Road, south side, Eden Lane to 15-501 Bypass
- Ephesus Church Road, south side, Colony Woods Drive to Pope Road
- Homestead Road, north side, from Senior Center to Weaver Dairy Road Extension
- Bennett Road, south side, from Fire Station 5 to Mt. Carmel Church Road
