WHEREAS, Orange County, Orange-Chatham Juvenile Crime Prevention Council (JCPC) and Town of Carrboro have appropriated to the Town of Chapel Hill for Project Turn Around funds totaling $52,836 to enhance the quality of law enforcement services provided in this community to prevent juvenile crime; and
WHEREAS, Orange County has made funds totally $44,424 available to enhance the quality of law enforcement services provided to the Town of Chapel Hill to provide early intervention in the cycle of crime and drugs to minimize recidivism; and
WHEREAS, the Town’s grants in the amounts of $64,424 from Orange County, $31,836 from JCPC and $1,000 from Town of Carrboro have been appropriated by the respective funding agencies; and
WHEREAS, these grant funds would be used to provide comprehensive case management services for juvenile and adult offenders;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill that the Council authorizes the Manager to accept the aforementioned grants and to make all necessary assurances.
