SUBJECT: |
Budget Amendment for Traffic Engineering Projects on Sage Road |
DATE: |
May 7, 2007 |
This attached budget ordinance would adjust the FY 2006-07 budget for traffic engineering related projects on Sage Road.
We recommend that the Council enact the attached ordinance.
The attached budget amendment ordinance would allow the Town to design and construct the following projects on Sage Road. The funds were collected as part of several development projects in the area and were held in the revenue account.
1. Payment-In-Lieu for Traffic Signal on Sage Road at Lowe’s Entrance: A payment in-lieu was collected from Lowe’s ($50,000) and Wilson Assemblage ($20,357) for installation of a traffic signal on Sage Road at Lowe’s Entrance. Town staff plans to start the signal design this month and expects to complete the construction some time within the next six to 12 months depending on completion of the entrance to Wilson Assemblage on Sage Road.
2. Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety Improvements on Sage Road and Old Sterling Drive: Payment-in-lieu was collected from the University (for the Chapel Hill Bible Church Park and Ride Lot, $30,000) to install a pedestrian refuge island on Sage Road at Old Sterling Drive and for bicycle lane markings on Old Sterling Drive. We expect to complete the construction within the next four months.
We recommend that the Council enact the attached budget ordinance that would adjust the FY 2006-07 budget for traffic engineering related projects on Sage Road.
