SUBJECT: |
Approval of Changes to On-Street Parking Regulations on New Stateside Drive |
DATE: |
May 21, 2007 |
The attached ordinance would prohibit on-street parking on both sides of New Stateside Drive near the Northern Community Park.
We recommend that the Council enact the attached ordinance.
At the Town Council’s May 5, 2007 meeting, several area residents requested that on-street parking be prohibited on New Stateside Drive. Residents stated that Park visitors are often parked on both sides of New Stateside Drive close to driveways and intersections, thus creating unsafe conditions.
New Stateside Drive is 27 feet wide, paved, with curb-and-gutter, and the posted speed limit is 25 mph. On-street parking is currently allowed on both sides of the street. We conducted field observations at various times on different days. We observed many cars parked on both sides of New Stateside Drive close to the driveways, creating sight visibility problems.
We recommend eliminating on-street parking on both sides of New Stateside Drive in front of the Park. Please see the area map presented in Attachment 1. If approved, Town staff will install the appropriate signs, and we will monitor the parking regulations in the area and make recommendations as needed.
We recommend that the Council enact the attached ordinance that would prohibit on-street parking on both sides of New Stateside Drive near the Northern Community Park.
